PinUps For Pink Calendar

We're so excited to share with you these photos!  For those of you who aren't familiar with PinUps For Pink it is a calendar that features successful women in business.  The goal of bringing together these women is to unite and raise money for Breast Cancer.  The unveiling of the calendar was this past Saturday & the support the calendar recieved was incredible.  We're so thrilled to be a part of PinUps For Pink & encourrage you to visit the website where you can purchase one of the calendars.  What makes this such an amazing charity is that 100% of the proceeds go to the Breast Cancer foundation!  $54,000 has been raised so far.

Working together brings us closer each day to finding a cure.

"Hip Hop, Pop, Chic" - Nicki Minaj

LOVE LOVE LOVE  me some Nicki Minaj

Ms.Minaj gets glam for NYLON magazine in preparation for her album PINK FRIDAY which drops in stores November 23.

With her somewhat feminist lyrics she push's the envelope of what a lady may say out loud but unlike female rappers before her, she's created a brand that is all her own. Referring to herself as Barbie and encourages her followers on twitter to tweet shots of themselves in something pink every Friday to promote her new album she has created mini Minaj's all over North America. She celebrates her show stopping curves in her ghetto glam style and is in my opinion a strong female figure in popular music today, with designer shout outs in some tracks including Badgley Mischka & Giueseppe Zanotti. With her love of fashion and original sense of style you never know what may be in store. Expect lots from this hip hop-preneur, she's going fast and showing no signs of stopping. Caped Coquette

Capes traditionally have only been worn by women of power; Superhero's, Sorcerers and Queens (no this is not a Halloween post)

This season we can all exude this noble look through the most comfortable and the ever elegant cape.
You can find versions of this look almost everywhere here's a few different options some high some low
Joesph $650                                Zara $179

Phillip Lim $1,100                            H&M $20

Just the other night I was running out to the store and the simple task of swaddling myself in my navy cashmere cape gave the illusion of a chic evening outfit when really underneath was an oversized men's sweater and tights.

OS's choice of outerwear this fall is the cape full of mystery and intrigue.... You never know whats underneath! Its billowy warmth feels like a blanket and since it is socially unacceptable to go out with your blanky past the age of 5 this is your loop hole. Just be sure to keep your proportions in check slim pants, statement shoe and as for accessories She-Ra's sword of power obviously

Gap Attempts To Rebrand

In the midst of the Gaps' Sprize card craze, their annual kids casting, and their 'donate your old jeans drive' a lot of consumers failed to notice the quiet re branding of Gap.  They took their classic blue box logo that we've all grown to love and replaced it with a boring 'helvetica' logo with the old box pushed to the back.  Although Gap Inc (Gap, Banana Republic, & Old Navy) pulled in a whopping $14.2 billion in revenue last year it's no secret they've been struggling to stay on top - Gap itself still recorded having a loss .

During the 80, 90's & early 2000's Gap was sitting in a comfortable position as a leading brand in the fashion industry.  Today by ditching their classic logo recognized world wide and trading it in for a logo that looked like it cost them next to nothing demonstrates a typical brand panic move.  Good thing they know how to listen - after implementing the logo there was nothing but negative feedback from buyers and clients all over the world.  The Gap has now dropped the new logo and went back to the classic blue box (THANK GOODNESS).

They have made baby steps to work towards improving their image including hiring designer Patrick Robinson back in 2008 and improving everything right down to the quality of fabric used for their tshirts.  Now they've learnt the hard way that the one thing that does not need meddling with is the logo that has been with them for over 20 years.

Shearling's a Sure Thing

We are all aware of the fashion faux paux that is Ugg Boots. However here at OS they remain our guilty little pleasure. It's hard to beat the warm and comfortable feeling of the twin-faced sheepskin ugly little boot, until now.

Shearling is a huge trend this F/W and was seen all over the runways last year. They put this s*** on everything (Franks Red Hot reference for Jillian) Coats, Shoes, Bags, Vest's, Boots, Hats and even a Binocular Case.

So this season we do have the opportunity to toss those Ugg's aside, or at least out of sight and slip into something much more chic but still feels like a warm hug on a cold day!
